About
I am a researcher and curator for exhibitions about great classical musicians. I have been involved in cultural projects and music journalism all my working life; working as a freelance writer for publications like Classical Music and Times Educational Supplement through to the research and scripting of audio-guides to historic sites.
The most recent exhibition I curated was to celebrate the life and career of Sir Neville Marriner (1924-2016). This was held at the church of St Martin-in-the-Fields. London, where Marriner and friends first gathered to play baroque concertos in 1958. The centenary of his birth was marked by several special concerts and covered extensively on BBC Radio 3. Recent exhibitions and music-related journalism are detailed below.
I am planning several projects for 2026 and 2027, including exhibits around the following:
-
David Munrow, who attracted so much acclaim in his short but prolific career, died in 1976
-
Carl Maria von Weber, multi-talented instrumentalist and composer, is another who died young, in 1826;
-
John Joubert, the South African composer born in 1927, deserves commemoration and wider recognition.
-

A centenary or bicentenary (of birth or death) is a wonderful opportunity for an exhibition or other commemorative event. I welcome approaches from any person or organisation wishing to explore a celebratory event and/or exhibition: find out more at ‘Recent Exhibitions’
